Why we need more women in sales

Sade on the opportunity for women considering a sales career.

Sade ClarkeBy Sade Clarke, Senior Lead, Sales Stream at Jumpstart. Updated September 2026.

I'm genuinely passionate about seeing more women build careers in sales, and it's one of the reasons I do this job. Sales is still a male-dominated industry in a lot of rooms, and that gap is an opportunity, not just a problem.

The skills that make a brilliant salesperson, listening properly, reading a room, staying resilient after a no, being genuinely curious about someone else's problem, aren't gendered. I've placed some outstanding women into SDR, AE and leadership sales roles, and the founders they work for say the same thing every time: they wish they'd hired more like them, sooner.

To be clear, this isn't about closing the door on anyone. Some of the best salespeople I work with are men, and I want them in my pipeline too. It's about making sure women who are curious about sales know it's a genuinely good career option, and that they have someone in their corner when they're deciding whether to go for it.

If you're a woman considering a move into SDR, BDR or AE roles and you're not sure where to start, book a call. I'll give you a straight, honest read on the market and what I think you're ready for.
