Every SDR and AE I speak with wants more meetings that turn into pipeline, not just meetings for the sake of it. MEDDPICC is the framework I point people to. It's not corporate jargon, it's a checklist that stops you wasting your Fridays on deals that were never real.
Metrics: what number is this buyer trying to move. Economic Buyer: who actually signs. Decision Criteria and Decision Process: how they'll choose, and in what order. Paper Process: procurement, legal, security review. Identify Pain: the cost of doing nothing. Champion: someone inside who sells for you when you're not in the room. Competition: what else they're considering, including doing nothing.
As an SDR, you don't need every box ticked before you book a meeting, but the best discovery calls I've seen ask at least one MEDDPICC question early: what's prompting this now, and who else needs to be in the room. That single habit filters out a lot of meetings that go nowhere.
As an AE, MEDDPICC is your forecast hygiene. If you can't name the economic buyer or the paper process on a deal you've called 80% likely, it isn't 80%. Update it honestly, your manager will trust your forecast more, not less, when you do.
Candidates who can talk fluently about MEDDPICC in a case study or interview stand out immediately. It shows you've sold with structure, not just charm.
